I do believe in every post apocalyptic world there is always a ruin of human cities such as New York and other places so you could put, in some of the broad areas ruins of cities like New York or remains of Las Vegas.

A thing I'm debating is that should it be in the same world as ours of in another world entirely? Right now I'm saying country to avoid a real place. What I was thinking is that a long time has past since humans have been alive. Have you ever heard of the pangea theory? It's a theory that all of the countries use to be connected into one big land but slowly separated and will one day reunite together again? I was thinking of doing that and have the earth reconnect together again.

I've heard of the theory that says the land masses are moving away from each other and to prevent confusion you should do a different country idea.

I think it should be in a different world entirely . I personally think it would be more unique and interesting. Everything should be less confusing about what land we are dwelling on once you figure out the map.
